This was President Conn's answer to my initial letter. I have (interjected) a few necessary remarks in RED.

Lee University

Office of the President

November 25, 1997

Dear Mr. Thorpe

I am responding to your letter of November 14, in which you demand that Dr. Donald Bowdle be replaced as a Lee University professor and offer your self as his replacement.

(Notice that I said, "If for some reason you do not have a Spirit filled teacher in Theology and History call me to help." Well, Lee still lacks such a teacher and I now see that Lee College also needs a righteous President! Should I offer my services? Please wont someone fill the gap!)

I have known Dr. Bowdle him [sic] for thirty years, and have heard him lecture many times. My experience is that he is a gifted teacher, faithful to scripture, one of the finest I have ever known at helping students explore those mysteries of God which are so difficult for us to understand.

(This demonstrates Dr. Conn's ignorance of both the Scripture and of Dr. Bowdle's teaching. Dr. Bowdle leads us back to the day when only the law was revealed by God in Deut. 29:29. Dr Bowdle says, "don't try to figure out the mysteries of God." Conversely, Jesus said, " Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God" (Luke 8:10) These are hidden only to false teachers like Bowdle and Conn. The apostle Paul tells us that, "The mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, is now made manifest to his saints:" Colossians 1:26)

Dr. Bowdle is a tremendous asset to Lee University, and to the Church of God. I am so happy that he is pouring his talent and intelligence into the lives of young man and women here on our campus. As you point out, many of his former students are now ministering in the Church of God. I am myself one of those, and I am grateful that I, like so many other, had an opportunity to study under him.

Your offer to join our faculty is being referred to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. If he wishes to speak with you further about it, you will hear from him directly. (So far no reply! We are hopeful? Ha!)

Your request for financial assistance with your son's tuition is being referred to our Vice President for Business and Finance. Any aid which might be given would be assigned from his office.

(Notice that Dr. Conn demonstrates very poor reading comprehension. His answers are an attempt to belittle the reader. I said, "I request that Philip's account be reimbursed for the classes that he has failed or dropped under Dr. Bowdle. Dr. Bowdle's Theology was not what Lee pledged. We were deceived by Lee's literature and have not received the services for which we contracted. It would be most unjust if you do not redress our losses.")

Thank for your continued prayers for our ministry here at Lee.

Cordially,

Charles Paul Conn

President
