Rope Challenge Course

A Challenge Course, sometimes referred to as a ropes course, is a series of physical and mental obstacles which enables a person to discover their personal confidence and abilities, both individually and as part of a group. The BRCC ropes course uses obstacles constructed of materials such as steel cable, wood and rope and are integrated into a wooded area.

The challenge course experience begins with initiative games which develop a foundation of skills related to safety, trust-building and group problem solving. The games are a perfect beginning to "break the ice" and build unity for church groups (youth groups, Sunday School classes, elders/ deacons, ministry teams) athletic teams, businesses, scouts, etc.

Once the initiative games are completed, the group goes on to the low course. The low course consists of 14 elements and is being added to each year. The low course is led by a trained facilitator, who guides the group in attaining the obstacle/goal. Upon completion of the course, the group is led through a debriefing session, where they analyze applications to their personal and spiritual lives, as well as how they can apply it to their own unique settings. Goal setting is an important part of the experience.

The obstacles or elements may require the participants to lift, climb, walk or crawl, but do not require previous training in climbing, rappelling or athletics.
